If you will come to SILC for a Bachelor Degree or Master’s Degree program, please check:


    1. Apply for Your Student Visa


    International students studying in China for more than 180 days must apply for an X1 Student Visa.


    Please make sure you:


    • Apply for the visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country

    • Ensure your visa is valid for your entry date

    • Bring all admission documents issued by Shanghai University


    Important reminder:


    Students holding an X1 visa must apply for a Residence Permit within 30 days after arriving in China.




    2. Confirm Your Accommodation


    Shanghai University offers on-campus accommodation for international students, including fully furnished rooms with internet access and essential facilities.


    Before arriving, please:


    • Confirm your accommodation reservation according to the instructions sent by email

    • Review the room type and fee information

    • Prepare for the first accommodation payment


    Due to limited availability, early reservation is strongly recommended.




    3. Arrange Medical Examination and Insurance


    International students studying in China are required to have valid medical examination report and insurance.


    Before departure, please:


    • Prepare your medical examination report if required

    • Bring copies of important medical documents if necessary

    • The specified international student insurance will be paid during the registration at SILC


    If additional health checks are required after arrival, the university will provide guidance.

    Follow the guidance of university and go to the designated health center after registration. (Bring your medical examination report if you have one.)




    4. Pay Required Fees


    Before arriving, please ensure that you understand the tuition payment schedule and other related fees, which may include:


    • Tuition fees

    • Accommodation fees

    • Insurance fees (800 yuan for one year)

    • Administrative fees (if applicable)

    5. Prepare Important Documents

    Please carry the following documents in your hand luggage when traveling to China:

    • Student visa

    • JW201/JW202 form (if applicable)

    • Medical documents (if required)

    • Degree certificates and transcripts

    When packing for your trip, consider bringing:

    Shanghai has four distinct seasons, so please check the expected weather conditions before departure.




    7. Plan Your Arrival in Shanghai


    Before traveling, please:


    • Confirm your flight details

    • Inform the university of your arrival date if required

    • Check airport transportation options to campus

    • Review entry regulations for China


    Some students may be eligible for airport pickup services arranged by the university.

    Detailed instructions will be sent before the semester begins.
