About Our Program
Welcome to the 2026 SILC Summer School on “Business Innovation and Practice in China”. Set in Shanghai, one of the world’s most dynamic and competitive business hubs, this program offers an immersive journey into China’s rapidly evolving innovation ecosystem. Designed for students eager to understand how innovation is conceived, developed, and implemented across Chinese industries, the program blends academic learning with real-world engagement.
Over the program of two weeks, students will learn from renowned professors, meet with industry experts, visit innovative companies, and collaborate on applied projects that mirror the challenges and opportunities shaping China’s economic future. By immersing participants in both the strategic and cultural dimensions of doing business in China, the summer school equips them with practical insights, global perspectives, and the cross-cultural competence required in today’s interconnected world.

This program not only broadens participants’ academic and professional horizons, but also fosters meaningful international connections and cross-cultural learning. Program Attractions
Diversified Teaching Approaches
Our teaching approaches are designed to provide students with an immersive learning experience through a combination of lectures, case studies, workshops with entrepreneurs, on-site visits to companies, and group work to deliver business theories and cases. Students will also have the opportunity to communicate with local entrepreneurs face-to-face. Our inspirational lectures will guide you on how to do business in China.
One-to-one buddy scheme
Each visiting student will be introduced to a Chinese student of SILC, who acts as your “buddy”. Your buddy will help to enhance your learning experience and providing support whenever you may need it.
Practical experience of our program
Throughout the course, you will learn about the challenges facing Chinese companies and work with your classmates to develop innovative solutions that blend Chinese and other cultures. Through observing the process of modernization and commercialization of intangible cultural heritage products, you will gain insights into the keys to innovation and entrepreneurship. Finally, you will have the opportunity to present your group's business plan, which may develop into a business solution for Chinese companies, or even become a real company in the future. By the end of the course, you will have developed a deep understanding of the logics behind the rapid growth of Chinese economy, the implications of Chinese economic reform on the global economy, and gained practical experience in developing innovative solutions.
Certificate
On completion of SILC Summer/Winter school, you will be awarded a Summer/Winter School Certificate from SILC as well as an academic record for your marks, which prove that you have good understanding of Chinese economy, innovations and entrepreneurship. SILC will also grant credits for students completing the program through an official transcript.
Levels and Prerequisites
All courses offered are equivalent to introductory level university courses. They have no specific pre-requisites.
Application Requirement
Non- Chinese citizens with a valid passport
Proof of your English language proficiency (if your first language is not English or if English is not the language of instruction at your school)
