The 7th Annual Convention of Sino-foreign Educational Cooperation Programs was held in Zhengzhou from 10th to 12nd Nov, 2016. Nearly a thousand people attended this event, including leaders from International Department of Ministry of Education, Government of Henan Province and personnel from universities and colleges all over China. Over 70 university presidents and more than 130 directors were from sino-foreign educational institutions or department of International affairs.
With the background of comprehensive reform of higher education as well as its rapid development, the sino-foreign educational cooperation has already been a critical part and a key of growth of higher education. The theme of this convention is to discuss the development tendency of sino-foreign educational cooperation.
Prof. Gong Siyi, the Vice Party Secretary and Vice President of Shanghai University as well as Dean of SILC, was invited to deliver a report themed on “Efficiency and Sustainable Development of Sino-foreign Educational Institutions”. She shared information about development of Shanghai University in recent years, construction of the double first-rate program, net of diversified international cooperation, etc. She also used the development of SILC as a case and analyzed the economic benefits for the society. She interpreted the nature of sino-foreign education which is “obeying the principle of mutual trust and benefits”. It cast great effect on the work of cooperative institution.
Gong's speech was widely recognized by the attendees. As the first cooperative institution in China, SILC provided an example and had a great significance in guiding other institutions. Based on her practice all this years, Gong had a comprehensive understanding of sino-foreign education cooperation and offered valuable guidance for the similar institutions in different stages.
