Prof. Gong Siyi, A/Prof. Li Shuang, Prof. Lyv Kangjuan, Prof. Hu Xiaohan and other representatives from SHU-UTS SILC Business School (SILC) visited Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou on December 17. Executive President Prof. Xi Youmin received them.
In the morning, Prof. Gong Siyi and other representatives visited the School Museum, the Library, the Office Area, the Multi-media classrooms, the Student Startup Hub and other teaching areas and facilities.
In the afternoon, Prof. Gongsiyi and other representatives had an in-depth conversation with Executive President Prof. Xi Youmin, Dean of the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS)Mr. Chen Jinghan, Deputy Dean of the Institute of Leadership and Educational Advanced Development (ILEAD) Mr. Zhang Xiaojun.
During the conversation, Prof. Gong Siyi raised a question about the challenges that facing XJTLU now. Prof. Xi comprehensively answered the question from both the inner and outer perspectives, including major setting, tuition approval, approval for recruiting foreign experts, nature of the registered institution, pressure from the society and the parents, the accreditation system both home and abroad and the agreement on the educational reform from the teachers.
The two parties not only exchanged their ideas on Sino-foreign educational cooperation, but also reached a preliminary agreement on student exchange for short-term visit.
At the end of the visit, Prof. Gong Siyi presented the invitation on the in-coming SILC Strategy Advisory Committee to Prof. Xi. Prof. Xi gladly accepted this invitation, and expressed his delightedness in providing ideas and intellectual support to SILC’s strategic development.
