On January 9th, Professor Li Tianxing, Fu Jen Catholic University came to visit SILC, delivering a special lecture on AACSB accreditation and development of schools of business.
AACSB is a global accreditation organization devoted to the advancement of business management education worldwide. AACSB assists schools of business to address management education challenges and improve quality through an array of comprehensive value-added services. In the lecture, Professor Li introduced the development of international business schools, accreditation standards of AACSB. He pointed out international business schools handled internationalization by means of cooperation in running schools, employment of international professors, recruitment of international students, English-taught degree program and overseas study,etc. Currently, business schools are putting more emphasis on Rank and international accreditation. There are three largest and most influential business school accreditation associations including AACSB、EQUIS、AMBA. EQUIS is a kind of European Accreditation, focusing on European institutions. AMBA accredits only the business school's portfolios of MBA and EMBA programs. AACSB has the broadest scope, as it accredits management and accounting programs at the entire university.
During the lecture, Professor Li shared a large quantity of business school cases to illustrate current development of business schools and accreditation process of AACSB. At present, the accreditation is awarded to 718 business schools by AACSB, accounting for only 5% of business schools worldwide. In Mainland China, 9 current AACSB-accredited schools includes Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University etc. Some Chinese institutions are also applying for AACSB accreditation. Earning AACSB International accreditation gives multiple benefits for an accredited educational institution and its students at all levels of study, providing opportunity to network with foreign institutions. At the end of the lecture, Prof. Li introduced innovative teaching modal of School of Business in Fu Jen Catholic University, and expressed heartily his wish that SILC pass the AACSB accreditation and move toward a more promising future.
