The first faculty and staff meeting after winter holiday was held on Feb 22. Prof. Lyu Kangjuan, A/Prof. Hu Xiaohan, A/Prof. Fang Hui, and Prof. Li Shuang attended the meeting. The meeting was presided by Prof. Lyu Kangjuan.
Prof. Lyu Kangjuan first introduced new faculty members. She briefed everyone on the overall development and achievements in the past year and the key tasks this year including re-election of the Strategic Advisory Committee’s members, recruitment of high-level faculty, AACSB accreditation visit, and holding the annual conference of Management Science. She analyzed the characteristics of internationalization based on the statistics of international students and outgoing Chinese students. Although SILC is the only school being rated outstanding in Shanghai University KPI evaluation in five consecutive years, there is still a long way to go before becoming an excellent school. The key to success is responsibility and execution.
A/Prof. Hu Xiaohan said that AOL is the most important area in AACSB accreditation. She also discussed her understanding of Golden Class. She said that Golden Class should be evaluated by its long term effect. It needs to leave students a deep impression after many years. It also needs to be challenging for the students. In addition, she mentioned course development, IT-based teaching skills, and evaluation of teaching and learning effectiveness.
A/Prof. Fang Hui said that teaching quality enhancement and quality assurance system are the key to the improvement of postgraduate programs. The International Office will move forward 1+1 joint master programs this year. The development of industry-university-research base for postgraduate programs needs to be actively carried out. The cultivation of international students should focus on developing world alumni that is consistent with the national strategy. Every department needs to be involved in development of international students. She also said that bilingual information platform and channel should be established for international and foreign faculty.
Prof. Li Shuang briefed on ten issues and updates on party construction. He said that SILC is still far from becoming a first-class business school despite its achievements in recent years, especially in the areas of research and high-level publication. SILC must speed up its development and continuously pursue a culture of excellence in every department and office.
